What is Hypnosis?

About Hypnosis

Hypnosis through your subconscious mind heals the memory and breaks the old tapes that have been rolling around in your head for a long time.

Hypnosis is an excellent alternative way to change your perceptions, how you feel about yourself, and bring you to your highest good.

Hypnosis is performed by a certified hypnotist who utilizes visualization and verbal repetition to induce a hypnotic state. While hypnosis is often described as a sleep-like trance state, it is better expressed as a state characterized by focused attention and heightened suggestibility. People in a hypnotic state often seem sleepy and zoned out, but in reality they are in a state of hyper-awareness.

How it works

How does Hypnosis work?

Hypnosis is an ability we all possess. Hypnosis expands your ability to think critically and control your thoughts. When you change your thoughts and you change behavior. You can then change your unwanted behavior and improve your life!

By giving your subconscious/unconscious mind direct and powerful suggestions, hypnotherapy enables you to shift attitudes, habits and behaviors so you can live your life to the fullest.

The Process

image407

The Hypnotic Process:

  • When the hypnotist induces the conscious mind to relax, our brain waves change. When in the state of hypnosis, our brainwaves vacillate through the Alpha to Theta ranges.

  • Hypnosis works as the hypnotist bypasses the critical conscious mind (usually through relaxation or linguistic techniques), and speaks directly to the subconscious in a language which it understands; pattern, association and metaphor. The "conscious mind" is the part of the mind where we tend to “live," the part you might think of as "you". If there's a little voice reading these words out loud in your head, that's the conscious mind talking. The subconscious mind is everything else! The subconscious mind is basically in charge. The majority of things that we do are unconscious, which is convenient because if you had to consciously think about every single thing you did, you would not do anything. However, it can lead us astray. Most problems are things that we've learned how to do at a subconscious level.

  • The hypnotist then works by shaping our perception of reality by dealing directly with the subconscious mind, the base of most of our problems. While the client is in the Alpha or Theta brainwave state, the hypnotist offers suggestions that now are able to enter the subconscious mind. These direct suggestions follow the Law of Concentrated Attention. When attention is concentrated on an idea over and over, the idea tends to realize itself spontaneously. 4. The hypnotist concludes the session and gently guides the client to slowly emerge from the hypnotic state.

The Myths of Hypnosis

  • People in hypnosis lose control and can be made to say or do whatever the hypnotist wants
  • People may not be able to come out of hypnosis
  • Hypnosis only affects weak-willed or gullible people
  • Hypnosis depends primarily on the skill of hypnotist
  • People in hypnosis lose consciousness and have amnesia
  • Under hypnosis you will always tell the truth and could even reveal personal secrets

Who can be hypnotized?

  • Anyone open to suggestion
  • Anyone with the ability to focus attention inward
  • Anyone easily absorbed in imaginary events
  • Children and young adults are often good candidates for hypnosis because they’re so open to suggestion and have active imaginations. Their brainwaves also tend to be in an alpha state, where they are like sponges, open to collecting and downloading lots of information into their inexperienced minds.

Getting started

How to Book a Session and What to Expect

You will have a free consultation with me and we will discuss your issue you would like to work on. I’ll also answer any questions you may have. If you would like to schedule a session, we can select a date and you will secure that date with a deposit. I then will email you a detailed intake form and Client Bill of Rights that you will complete and email back to me. I will send you a link for our meeting/session on Zoom.

Based on your answers on the intake form, I’ll then create a “script” that is specifically tailored to your needs and will include several phrases that will be the focus of your session.

Next, we will connect via Zoom, and I’ll ask you to get comfortable either lying down or sitting. We’ll then start the hypnotherapy session. It could last from 1-1.5 hours, so please plan accordingly. Please make sure you will not have any distractions during the session. After we complete the session, we will discuss your experience. You can finalize the session with your payment. I will then email you a downloadable recording to listen to that will reinforce what we worked on.
